Update 1: According to BBC and RTL radio, the driver of the BMW that to plowed into a pizzeria just east of Paris was a 39-year-old male who told police he had wanted to kill himself and had weapons in his car. Police have not named the man or said where he is from. He gave an immediate statement to police and officers ruled out terrorism.
Investigators said they believed the incident was "deliberate... but apparently has no connection with a terrorist act".The man was s allegedly suicidal, with a police source saying he had tried to take his own life on Sunday. He is reportedly unknown to French police and French intelligence, with no links to terrorism.
Separately, the Telegraph reports that Interior Minister spokesperson Pierre-Henry Brandet has said four of the victims are “seriously injured and in a state of absolute emergency”. He added that the younger brother of the young girl who died is in a critical condition.
Another eight diners from the restaurant are said to have suffered lighter injuries.

While the identity of the driver has not been revealed publicly, Reuters is reporting that the incident is not being investigated as a terror attack at this time.
Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office in Meaux confirmed the same saying the car was driven into the pizzeria as a "deliberate act" but the driver did not appear to be motivated by terrorism.

As BNO News adds, "a car has crashed into a pizza restaurant in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre near the French capital of Paris, killing at least one person and injuring several others, local officials.
According to initial reports, an 8-year-old girl was killed and 8 others have been injured, including 5 who are critically injured. The driver was arrested, according to French media.
